Memorial Committee to consider over 200 options
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

The Northern Illinois University Memorial Committee has received at least 225 submissions to consider as they plan a memorial to honor five students slain on campus.

NIU official Michael Malone says the general recommendation is for one collective memorial. Most people also want it a place of "peaceful reflection," including gardens and sculptures.

Malone says the university has chosen six to eight open spaces near Cole Hall as possible locations for the memorial. It would honor five students shot to death by a former student in the hall in February.
