On Monday at 3:08 a.m., police responded to a report of a car that was stolen from the 7-11 parking lot at 930 N. Annie Glidden Road.

The car owner had parked his car in the lot and went inside. While inside, he saw the suspect, Eugeene B. Jackson, 23, of DeKalb, enter his car.

The victim then ran to his car to try and remove Jackson from his vehicle. Jackson started backing up and subsequently dragged the victim several feet. Jackson then backed into two concrete refuse containers before leaving the lot and heading south on Annie Glidden Road.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Several minutes later, the vehicle was located on Interstate 88 by IDOT employees. The vehicle was stuck in the median. IDOT employees spotted Jackson hiding nearby. Jackson then fled on foot and was later spotted near a farmhouse in the 6000 block of West Fairview Drive. Jackson was apprehended a short time later near the intersection of Fairview Drive and Nelson Road.

Jackson was transported to the DeKalb Police Department pending further investigation.

The investigation revealed that Jackson also committed a burglary in the area where he was caught.

Jackson has been charged with vehicular hijacking, a Class 1 Felony; unlawful possession of converted motor vehicle, a Class 2 Felony; reckless driving; and driving with a suspended license.

Jackson was then transported to the DeKalb Count Jail pending bond.

Jackson could also face additional charges, pending the Sheriff’s Department investigation.
