Welcome to NIU!

On behalf of Health Enhancement staff, welcome to a fun, healthy and productive school year. We are the health promotion program within the Division of Student Affairs. Our charge is to provide information and programs to keep health-related issues from interfering with your academic success at NIU.

We want you to enjoy your experience at NIU. There is an incredibly diverse array of experiences awaiting you. Immerse yourself in the NIU experience, meet new people, discover new talents and abilities, challenge yourself intellectually, and begin the next stage of finding your role in the world.

The transition to college life and the demands of your class load can be stressful. Health Enhancement offers presentations for residence halls, classes and student organizations; electronic and printed materials that inform without preaching; and workshops and other services focusing on safer sex, alcohol and other drugs, relationship violence, stress, sleep, fitness and nutrition.

A new service this year is Student Health 101 – a monthly, electronic, interactive, health magazine packed with great information including audio & video content, cartoons, contests and comments from other college students around the country. It will be e-mailed to every NIU student beginning in September.

Have a great experience at NIU this year. If there is anything we can do for you, please contact us at 753-9755 or through our Web site.
