Top 10 things freshman should know about NIU

DeKalb winters are like nothing you’ve ever seen.

Fatty’s has the best burger in town.

Always, ALWAYS wear flip flops in the dorm showers.

Work out regularly in order to avoid the freshman 15.
You need to work much harder than you did in high school. Procrastinating won’t work here.

Huskie Bucks run out more quickly than you think.

You’ll quickly discover that your college friends will become your second family.

Becoming involved in a variety of activities is just as important as getting good grades.

Help is always available, whether it be your CA, professor, counselor, roommate or a just good friend. Never be afraid to ask for help when things get to be too much.

Last but not least, know that college is fun! Despite the tough classes, late nights studying and learning to live on your own, NIU will be one of the best times of your life and will bring memories that will last a lifetime.
