When writing term papers, teachers remind students not to plagiarize – the key for students is to give credit where credit is due.

If the MAC was a student of men’s tennis then it correctly gave credit to the 2008 MAC men’s tennis player of the year. NIU’s Brian Livingston was awarded the honor by the conference.

But the junior wasn’t simply handed the award. Livingston put together a 24-6 record in singles during the season. The Skokie, Ill., native also compiled a 20-8 record in doubles with teammate Adam Ford.

Yet, the most remarkable stats came during the spring for Livingston. Once the calendar flipped from 2007 to 2008, the MAC men’s tennis player of the year went from good to great, as Livingston went 17-2 in a dual-meet competition during the spring. This included a period where the junior won 14 straight matches.

Livingston was the first Huskie to win the honor since Willy Gali earned the same distinction in the spring of 2005.
