The sky was the limit for former NIU basketball star Stephanie Raymond.

Drafted in the second round by the Chicago Sky in 2007, Raymond marked the first Huskie athlete to make it to the WNBA.

However, after only appearing for 9.1 minutes in her rookie season, Raymond was cut from the 2008-2009 team. The release came on May 16 after the guard made it to the team’s final cuts.

Raymond’s cut means that NIU has no current representation in the WNBA.

While playing for NIU head coach Carol Owens, Raymond dominated at the guard position, averaging 18.8 points per game.

Despite putting up big numbers on campus, Raymond failed to score at the same position for the Sky. The Rockford native only hit one of her three attempts from the floor.
