NIU athletics is under new leadership beginning the 2008-2009 athletic season.

The Huskies named Jeff Compher as the new Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics on April 15. Compher replaced Jim Phillips, who resigned after four years to become the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Northwestern University.

Compher began his duties June 2 and has over 10 years of collegiate administrative experience under his belt. The Baltimore native recently served as the Executive Associate Athletic Director at the University of Washington. Compher held that position for four years.
