DeKalb Police arrested a Rochelle man who reportedly fired several gun shots at a residence in the 100 block of Park Avenue in June, police said.
Anthony J. Loyd, 28, was charged Friday with aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with a gang-related shooting June 18 in the 100 block of Park Avenue, according to a DeKalb Police Department news release.
Loyd allegedly fired several gunshots at an occupied residence at about 11 p.m., but no one was injured. The incident was gang related, according to the news release.
The June 18 shooting is believed to be indirectly connected to a shooting on June 27 in the 300 block of Gurler Road that is also thought to be gang related, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler.
At about 12:45 a.m., an unknown number of shots were fired at the residence, but no one was injured. No one has been charged for the June 27 shooting.
Loyd had previously been arrested Aug. 7 on a warrant for aggravated assault and unlawful use of weapons by felons for an incident that occurred a few hours before the June 18 shooting, according to the news release.
Loyd allegedly pointed a gun at a group of people in the 800 block of East Locust Street during the incident, and was out on bond from his arrest in connection with the June 18 shooting.
“His name came up immediately after the shooting, and through various interviews we were able to put together a strong case against Loyd,” Spangler said.
