Palin's biography out of stock at Amazon

By CHRIS KRAPEK

Sitting at the number 20 spot on Amazon.com’s “Top 100 Books,” is a biography that deals with one of the most heated topics in America right now; Sarah Palin.

“Sarah: How A Hockey Mom Turned The Political Establishment On Its Ear,” was released almost 6 months ago, an eternity before Palin’s name was announced as a vice presidential candidate. Now, The Republican National Convention is underway and Palin’s name is being tossed all over. From tabloid magazines, to politcal pundit talk-shows, to the ever-expanding blogosphere, Palin and her alleged lack of experience, her pregnant teenage daughter, and her ties to the Alaskan Independence Party has become a national issue.

The book, written by Kaylene Johnson, is currently out of stock. It sits high above the list, beating books written about Obama and McCain. But with such a heated, debatable and controversial subject like Sarah Palin, one must wonder what the readers of this book hope to gain from reading about Palin’s high-school basketball accomplishments, or her beauty queen reign, or how she likes to eat on moose that she shot herself. Above all, who really cares?

The publics’ fascination with a vice-presidential candidates favorite meal, or snowmobile she likes to use is inconsequential.

Thanks to the overbearing and repitive cable news media outlets, Palin’s irrelevant personal habits are now the water-cooler fodder that systematically triggers more and more debate. Many will read her book for leverage, others will read it for a clear understanding of Palin’s ideals.
Nonetheless, America’s fascination with personal downfall rather than triumph, is cleary becoming more and more easy to point out.
