From page to screen: Sisterhood/Pants 2

THE BOOK:
Bridget, Tibby, Carmen and Lena are back for yet another summer full of adventures, including passing around the magical “traveling pants” that mysteriously fit all four of them (despite the obvious differences in their body shapes).

The book is full of the same sort of melodrama that filled the pages of its prequel, however many of these issues are ones that all girls can empathize with (parents, boys, friends). The varying personalities of the four characters also make them relatable, no matter how far-fetched the situation they are in. The book is fast-moving and full of drama, but a great book to read and pass on to your friends.

THE MOVIE:
America Ferrera, Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel have returned to their old roles from the original 2005 film.

Unlike the first film, this movie is much more depressing and focuses more on the problems that the girls have rather than the fun. Each of the characters is either angry or dismal, but they use their friendship to bring themselves out of it and give the movie a happy ending.

The movie spends so much time focusing on the importance of the pants, but when they lose them, is it reasonable that the women just give up? Some resolution would have been nice and would have provided a great, touching scene to end the movie.

THE WINNER:

The book. For guys, this is a great movie to see with your girlfriend. But, if you have the time, read the books. They are much more entertaining and give all the details you’re craving that the movie leaves out.
