Now that the city has a skating rink, do you plan to use it? |

Recently, there has been talk in a Danville high school of banning very baggy pants.
As usual, schools will go through the cycle of out-of-touch-with-reality school officials making stupid suggestions and outraged parents shouting their ears off, and then, no matter what rules do or do not get passed, students will just wear whatever they feel like anyway.
Having gotten through the high school system in this country, I can’t understand why school officials don’t realize that there’s a far more cost-effective and labor-saving means of getting kids to quit wearing embarrassing and stupid trendy clothes.
Just make fun of the kids until they stop wearing them.
I know that the quickest way to get me to quit wearing something is to have people make fun of it, or at least it was that way back when I was in high school.
If school officials simply paid a few kids to taunt those who wear baggy pants, then those baggy pants will vanish a lot quicker than if you make a rule against them.
It saves the time of school officials and it preserves students’ basic human right of expression – it just makes them not want to exercise that right of expression.
