Third installment of 'Ghostbusters' coming

Everyone, young or old, can sing the theme song.

Everyone can identify the slimey green face of the movies main ghost, and everyone knows not to mess with a floating woman in a library. That’s because many around the world have seen and loved the classic film, “Ghostbusters.”

Well, there may be a chance that we haven’t seen the last of them on the big screen.

Variety has recently reported that two writers from the hit comedy show “The Office” have been hired on to help write the third installment of the “Ghostbusters” franchise. Writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky’s hiring is being seen as a sure sign that the long-awaited film will finally be made.

It’s not sure yet as to whether or not the original cast will be reunited, but information on the subject is hard to come by, seeing as how Columbia Pictures is still declining to comment on the subject.

Director John Landis, who has previously worked with Dan Aykroyd on the film The “Blues Brothers,” just recently spoke with the BBC News on the subject saying, “I’m not involved, but I know it’s happening.”

For fans of the “Ghostbusters” films, look forward to the official “Ghostbusters” video game, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis (the writers of the original films). It will feature the original team, who lent their voices and likenesses. “Ghostbusters: The Video Game” is set for release sometime in 2009. Perhaps this will keep fans occupied until the final verdict of the third film is released.
