When an NFL player starts over with a new team, it can be completely unknown how things will shake out. Two newcomers had big debuts Sunday as Brett Favre led the Jets to victory and NIU alumnus Michael “The Burner” Turner amassed 220 rushing yards for the Falcons.
Now I’m not the type to be easily won over, but when I look at the standings, I see the Falcons and Jets both with perfect records.
1-0.
Is it too early to be thinking Super Bowl bids? Probably. But I’m just crazy enough to go there, because these are two of my favorite players in the NFL (never mind that they’re both on my fantasy team), and the Falcons-Jets matchup will be one for the ages. That’s right, my Super Bowl picks are the Falcons and Jets.
Turner will be running over so many people that the only person the Jets will be able to put at linebacker to stop him, will be Favre himself, and when that first collision happens, I can tell everyone “I told you so.”
