Rehab and sports medicine have been going strong in DeKalb for 30 years.
This year marks the 30 year anniversary of Northern Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Associates, 3266 Resource Parkway.

“The practice was started by Tim Dunlop, who is still a partner,” said Ken Olson, president and managing partner of Northern Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Associates.

“The original goals [for the clinic] were to have a direct link with patients and the doctors that sent the patients to us to meet their clinical needs and do it in an atmosphere that was positive and fun,” said Tim Dunlop, founder of the center.
Dunlop feels that he has reached those goals.

“We’ve had a lot of fun,” he said.

Northern Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Associates has nine physical therapists on staff, each with their own specialties.

“We see people from all walks of life,” Dunlop said.

Patients range from children with growth and development problems, to adults with wear and tear, Dunlop said.

The clinic has three locations: DeKalb, Rochelle, 1211 Currency Court Suite 2, and Genoa, 540 A E. Main St.

The clinic is always trying to give back to the community with charity work, Olson said.

“We’ve tried to give back along the way to the community who’s been so generous to us,” Olson said.

To celebrate thirty years of success, the facility will host an open house tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the DeKalb office.

“The open house is to say thank you to the community, doctors and patients who have helped us stay in business for thirty years,” said assistant office manager Pam Miles.

“It’s a way to honor Tim Dunlop,” Olson said.
