Police said Sunday the only damages thus far with this storm is the Taylor St. bridge.

The bridge is barricaded until water levels sink and leave the bridge surface.

DeKalb continue to be on flood watch going into Sunday morning, but there are no reported damages or excessive flooding in the area, according to the DeKalb Police Department.

The National Weather Service says the Kishwaukee River is currently at 9.4 feet, just under flood stage.

If the river reaches 10.5 feet, the Taylor St. bridge in DeKalb could flood, police said. The NWS predicts the river to reach 10.7 feet by Sunday morning.

More heavy rain is expected overnight and through Sunday, much due to former Hurricane Ike.

NWS says between one and five inches are expected.

If needed, sandbags are available at the Oak St. entrance to the DeKalb Water Department, police said.

Totals taken at O'Hare International Airport just outside Chicago showed 6.63 inches fell at the airport, a new single-day record for the city, the Chicago Tribune reported.

A flood warning is effect until 7:15 a.m. Monday in the DeKalb area, according to the National Weather Service.

A river flood warning for the Kishwaukee River which runs through DeKalb and the NIU campus is in effect until Sunday afternoon.

A flood warning is in effect for the DeKalb area until 4:30 p.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) is reporting.

NWS reported that 4-7 inches of rain fell overnight and another 1-2 are expected throughout the day on Saturday.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creaks and streams.

The Kishwaukee River is under flood watch was well until Tuesday morning. Minor flooding is possible, NWS is reporting.

If flooding occurs, the NWS says you should stay away from creeks, rivers, streams, ditches and avoid underpasses when in a vehicle.
