A battery occurred at Grant Tower North in the early morning hours of Sept. 16.

Zachary C. Washington, 21 of Chicago was arrested after allegedly slapping a front desk employee at 1:51 a.m. Sunday.

Washington attempted to gain access to the building without going through the proper procedures, said Lt. Curtis Young of the University Police.

Washington gained access by following a pizza delivery driver as the driver entered the building. Washington began making degrading remarks toward the victim before instigating the physical attack, which caused the victim to fall from her seat, Young said.

After the two were separated, police arrived and Washington was arrested. No injuries were reported.

Washington was charged with battery, booked at the University Police department and released on $100 bond.
