The Huskies on Parade has seen better days.

On Sept. 8, it was reported that someone drew on a Huskie statue with a blue magic marker, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler.

Sue Johnson, chairwoman of the Huskies on Parade Committee, has seen some poor choices made by viewers of the Huskies.

“People have tried to move them and people have been sitting on them,” Johnson said. “We’re putting stress on our dogs.”

The dog with an around the world theme in front of Copy Service, 1005 W. Lincoln Highway, has also been affected.

“An airplane was stolen off the dog,” Johnson said.

On Oct. 18, the Huskies will be put up for sale on eBay and all proceeds will go to the Feb. 14 Student Scholarship Fund, according to the Northern Star.

Chuck Siebrasse, executive director of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, said he believes if people remember the purpose of the Huskies, they will be more respectful.

“We’re just sad we have people not using common sense,” Johnson said. “They are out there for all of us to enjoy.”

Yes. Of course.
No, I couldn't make it.
I wish.
