Commentary: Lohan should stick to tanner, not politics

Lindsay Lohan is at it again.

She’s out of rehab – or so the paparazzi report – and she’s making waves again. This time, MySpace is her chosen platform for change.

According to eonline.com, the reformed partier is joining the ranks of Pink and Matt Damon and speaking out against Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. She’s advocating Obama as a candidate, encouraging her fans and those who read her blog to vote for the Democrat come November. Her reasoning, however, seems to focus on Palin’s adverse views on same-sex marriage.

For the not-so-gossip-savvy, Lohan’s been seen close and cuddly with pal, DJ Samantha Ronson. While rumors of her “is-she-or-isn’t-she” homosexuality fly unconfirmed, Lohan appears to have taken this as her cue to step up to the soapbox.

Since when has this been an issue for her?

Something tells me this bout of seriousness isn’t exactly taken as such. Shortly thereafter, Lohan reportedly announced she’s releasing her own line of self-tanner.

Yippee! Now everyone can be as orange as her!

She just doesn’t know how to present herself. If she’s into the beauty and makeup scene, she shouldn’t strive to overcome the dumb blonde celebrity image she’s so expertly carved for herself.
If she wants to stand up for an issue, however, she’s barking up the wrong tree.

Voters aren’t looking for another celebrity to follow; Scarlett Johansson is way cooler if we’re looking for celebrity endorsements. If she wants to be taken seriously as a public advocate for homosexuality, don’t do so from the throes of an empty liquor bottle. Nobody likes a reproachable spokesperson.

Let it go, LiLo. Focus on getting yourself together.

I don’t think you’re orange enough yet.
