Celebrating September has never looked this good.

This weekend marks the sixth annual September Fest hosted by St. Mary School, 210 Gurler Road.

“We are doing [September Fest] as a fundraiser for St. Mary School in DeKalb,” said Beth Young. Young and her husband, Don, are co-chairs of the event this year.

“The money raised will be used for anything the school needs,” she said.

This includes things such as textbooks, computers and library books.

September Fest is a three-day community event featuring live entertainment, a carnival, food stands and a family-friendly beer garden.

“[Roan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home] sponsors the beer garden,” said Jacqui Finch, co-owner of Roan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home. “We are in charge of gathering volunteers for the beer garden.”

Different types of food will be available at the event.

“We have an ethnic food court featuring Hispanic, Polish and Greek booths, along with St. Mary’s School booth,” Young said.

There is no charge to enter the event and the entertainment is free, Young said.

A bags tournament will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

“We are getting to the point where we are drawing a lot of people,” Young said.

September Fest will be held at St. Mary’s School Campus, and the event will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
