Smashing Pumpkins back together in Chicago for 20th anniversary tour

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they are launching a 20th anniversary tour.

The band was formed in Chicago, and are paying tribute to the town by playing two double-night shows, most likely at The Chicago Theatre and The Auditorium.

Pumpkins dominated the 90’s with their alternative-grunge hits. Their album “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” went 9x platinum in the U.S. Most of us remember growing up and listening to songs like “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “1979” and “Disarm.” I for one know that I appreciated their musical talent, especially after I was old enough to know good music when I heard it.

After the breakup, I considered it the worst threat to the music industry since Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994. Although the band had internal struggles that sometimes ruined their image, they still had good chemistry that I could not see going to waste. Billy Corgan’s melodic voices, combined with Jimmy Chamberlin’s powerful drum routines are sure to put The Smashing Pumpkins back on the map once again.

Most of the tickets start going on sale in early-to-mid October, so buying tickets as soon as possible is a good idea.

These shows will undoubtedly sell out as loyal fans gather to see an all-star band from the 1990’s finally make a solid effort towards a comeback.
