The Rant: Oh, sweet revenge

So this is how revenge feels.

You see, I wasn’t alive in 1969. In fact, my parents were only seven- and six-years-old during the 1969 baseball season.

But that fact doesn’t mean I don’t know my history. I know that on Aug. 14, 1969 the Cubs had a 9.5 game lead over the Mets. And I know that on Sept. 10, 1969 the Mets took over the lead of the N.L. East as the Cubs suffered one of the worst collapses in baseball.

Now, 39 years later, it’s the Cubs’ chance to play spoiler. It’s our chance to take the Mets out of the playoffs.

I don’t care if the win brings the Brewers in, because for 39 years the Cubs have had a grudge against the Mets. And now, it’s time to cash that grudge in.

Oh, revenge is sweet!
