Two men were arrested over the weekend for allegedly damaging six cars.

Jake S. Procaskey, 18, and Robert J. Gallinger, 19, both of Channahon, Ill. were each arrested on charges of burglary from a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, criminal defacement, criminal trespass to vehicle, illegal consumption by a minor, obstructing justice and possession of burglary tools.

Early Saturday morning, University Police noticed a suspicious man in Lot J.

“When the officers got near him, he ducked between two cars and then began to flee the scene,” said Lt. Curtis Young of the UP.

Police noticed the man running toward Lot F and apprehended him after he refused officers’ demand that he stop. When questioned for running, the man told police it was because he was drinking and was underage.

He was arrested on account of suspicious behavior and failure to comply with police officers.

More officers arrived on the scene and noticed another suspect who was lying underneath a pine tree nearby. This suspect was also taking into custody.

When police searched the area near the tree, they found items considered to be burglary tools. Upon inspection of Lot J, officers found six cars that had been damaged by the alleged offenders.

One of the vehicles had its windows smashed in and also had a racial slur spray painted on the outside of the vehicle.
