A guide to the newest DVD releases
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Here’s a guide to the new releases you should rent today:

1. “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”

Jason Segel’s “bare” comedy affectionately portrays the life of a sad-sack who gets dumped, and the inevitable crumbling and rigorous re-building of his life.

Segel, along with a strong supporting cast, allows this film to expand the normal boundaries of a typical Judd Apatow comedy. Gross-out gags, crude humor and a naked Segel will please all viewers.

2. “Iron Man”

In the biggest superhero movie of the summer, Robert Downey Jr. embodies the snide billionaire Tony Stark perfectly.

The Jon Favreau-directed blockbuster will without a doubt go down as a classic, not to mention spawn several sequels. So, while “Iron Man” isn’t the best superhero movie around, it’s still a must-see.

3. “Bigger, Stronger, Faster”

This documentary openly discusses the use of steroids, and America’s perception of being the biggest and strongest power there is.

The filmmakers try to find the connection between steroids and America by examining bulky heroes such as Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hulk Hogan, all admitted steroid users, and all icons.

4. “Rest Stop: Don’t Look Back”

The only thing more appealing than a straight-to-DVD sequel of a straight-to-DVD film is that it all takes place inside a rest stop. Horrors include a brutal serial killer, and a lack of paper towels.

5. “Chapter 27”

This historical fiction of how Mark David Chapman (Jared Leto) killed John Lennon is finally coming to DVD.

Leto is good, but the film is dragged down by Lindsay Lohan’s abysmal performance.
