Vince Vaughn needs some new roles

One of, if not my favorite movie of all time, is “Swingers.”

The 1996 film featured the much younger, much thinner and much more un-schulb like Vince Vaughn as Trent. The script, penned by star Jon Favreau, allowed Vaughn to kickstart his career, thanks to the fast-talking, no nonsense persona of his character.

That was 12 years ago.

Besides a unsuccessful reincarnation of Norman Bates in the 1998 bomb “Psycho,” and an opium buying American in “Return To Paradise,” Vaughn has never strayed to far from his realm of comfortably.

After watching the trailer for “Four Christmases,” Vaughn’s latest holiday fare co-starring Reese Witherspoon, the tired-looking actor looks to be playing a character very close to Vaughn’s heart; himself.

After “Made,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Fred Claus,” “Dodgeball,” “The Break-Up,” and “Be Cool,” Vaughn has done something that seems impossible. He’s played himself in every movie!

Although seeing him talk really fast about motorboating, or pancakes, or foreign policy is funny, Vaughn is getting stale. “Four Christmases” is keeping with what has made Vaughn the most of his money, but is it really with merit? He has recycled and repackaged his same old routine so many times, it’s getting older than the first 5 minutes of “Deuce Bigelow” European Gigolo.”

The langy, raccoon-eyed actor needs to step into new territory. He did so briefly in “Into The Wild,” but he needs to start making career decisions that will not only fill his pockets now, but cement his legacy as a comedic giant, and a great actor.

Vince Vaughn, you’re too much like yourself.

That’s so not money, baby.
