A Crystal Lake man is in fair condition at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford following a mobile home collapse Saturday afternoon.

William S. Welling, 26, was airlifted to St. Anthony’s after a mobile home collapsed on him while he was trying to raise the trailer with two other people at Evergreen Village Mobile Home Park, 955 E. State St.

A second man helping lift the trailer, Timothy Brady, 27, of Sycamore, was able to crawl out after the accident and was taken to and released from Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

A third man helping lift the trailer was not underneath when the trailer fell, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 1:30 p.m., the men were trying to raise the trailer onto concrete bricks because of previous flooding at the park when the trailer shifted and fell on them.

Firefighters were able to dig away the dirt from around the area where Wellings was pinned and removed him, said Sycamore Fire Chief Bill Riddle.

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies and Sycamore and DeKalb Fire Departments responded to the scene.

The mobile home park was flooded in mid-September following high rain fall forcing some residents to evacuate until Sept. 18. The park was also evacuated following flooding in August 2007.
