MAC West capsules

Ball State Cardinals
Head Coach – Brady Hoke
Record – 7-0 (3-0)

No. 24 Ball State won its first game as a ranked team Saturday, defeating Western Kentucky 24-7.
The Cardinals lead the MAC in scoring offense with 37.4 points per game as well as total offense with 455.6 yards per game.
Ball State is idle this week and takes on Eastern Michigan Oct. 25 before NIU visits Muncie on Wednesday Nov. 5.


Central Michigan Chippewas
Head Coach – Butch Jones
Record – 4-2 (3-0)

The Chippewas are coming off a 24-14 win over Temple. CMU quarterback Dan LeFevour was injured in the game, but will be back at full strength Saturday.
LeFevour completed 65 percent of his passes on the season for 1,377 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. The Downers Grove native has also run for 304 yards and three touchdowns.
CMU will host Western Michigan at 11 a.m. Saturday. The game is on ESPN Plus. It will feature two of the country’s top rated passers in LeFevour and Western Michigan’s Tim Hiller.


Western Michigan Broncos
Head Coach – Bill Cubit
Record – 6-1 (4-0)

Down 28-14 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Broncos rallied for a 34-28 victory at Buffalo in overtime. The victory marked the first time since 2000 that Western Michigan is 4-0 in the MAC.
Quarterback Tim Hiller threw for 345 yards and four touchdowns in the victory, earning him Co-MAC West player of the week honors.
WMU will travel to Mount Pleasant will play Central Michigan at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The game can be seen on ESPN Plus.


Toledo Rockets
Head Coach – Tom Amstutz
Record – 2-4 (1-1)

Toledo is coming off a 13-10 upset victory over Michigan at the Big House. The Rockets are the first MAC school to defeat the Wolverines.
Toledo’s Tyrrell Herbert scored the Rockets’ only touchdown with a 100-yard interception return.
Rockets wide receiver Nick Moore tied a MAC record with 20 receptions in the victory and had 162 receiving yards.
Toledo will head to DeKalb to take on NIU at 3 p.m. Saturday and can be viewed on Comcast SportsNet.


Eastern Michigan Eagles
Head Coach – Jeff Genyk
Record – 2-5 (1-2)

The Eagles led 13-7 at halftime last weekend at Army, but fell 17-13 to the Black Knights.
Eagles running back Dwayne Priest had 118 rushing yards in the loss, while linebacker Daniel Holtzclaw had a game-high nine tackles.
The Eagles host Akron at noon Saturday.
The teams have not met since 2002, a 42-34 Eagles victory.


Northern Illinois Huskies
Head Coach – Jerry Kill
Record – 3-3 (2-1)

The Huskies are coming off their third win in their last four games, a 17-13 win over Miami (Ohio).
Running back Me’co Brown had a career-high 123 yards in the victory, including a 36-yard run on the team’s game-winning drive.
NIU leads the MAC in total defense, allowing only 288.5 yards per game.
The Huskies host Toledo at 3 p.m. Saturday and can be viewed on Comcast SportsNet.
Toledo has won the last two meetings against the Huskies, including a 70-21 victory last season.
