A Sycamore man was arrested Thursday for allegedly battering an infant who is now in critical condition, police said.

Terrance T. Norris, 18, was charged Thursday evening while already in custody during an investigation into a medical call from Sept. 30 in the 700 block of Park Avenue. Norris’ alleged actions left the two-and-a-half month old family member in critical condition at Rockford Hospital, according to a Sycamore Police Department news release.

The infant was treated at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and flown to Rockford hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to the release.

Sycamore Police Lt. Darrell Johnson declined to comment on Norris’ actions, but said he was arrested and charged based on those actions.

Norris was charged with aggravated battery of a child, and taken to DeKalb County Jail on $200,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation, Johnson said.
