Libertarian party offers alternative to standard

I’m one of the millions of Americans who opposed the recent government bailouts. Unfortunately, senators McCain, Obama, Durbin and Congressman Foster supported these massive bailouts which make taxpayers pay the price for poor decisions made by corporate CEOs.

The media has not done a good enough job of highlighting other view points held by Congressman Ron Paul, Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr, and Illinois’ Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Larry Stafford.

The democrats and republicans are equally responsible for the economic crisis Americans face today. I, like many, want change but I do not believe change is going to come by electing any candidate from the two parties we have today. That’s why I plan on voting against the bailouts and the status quo on election day.

I encourage all Americans who are frustrated with both parties and want real change to consider the third party candidates. There are several third party candidates like Bob Barr and Larry Stafford who will be on the ballot in Illinois this fall that have opposed the bailouts.

Fortunately, DeKalb residents will have a chance to hear from a third party member on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the NIU Holmes Student Center from 1 to 4 p.m. The Libertarian Party of Illinois is hosting a forum for residents and students to be introduced to the party and their candidates.

More information can be found at www.lpillinois.org.

The Libertarian Party candidates have won my vote since they have exposed the bailouts for the bad deal they are, whereas the republicans and democrats are only offering us more of the same.
