The lighting for the Lincoln Highway Streetscape has been put on hold.

Streetscape, which extends from Fourth to 11th streets, also includes some off-roadway work, decorations and a gazebo.

“We haven’t received the lighting poles,” said DeKalb City Engineer Joel Maurer.

Maurer expects the poles to come in within the next few weeks, but said “it is too late in the year to put them in now.”

Maurer said the rest of the project is going as scheduled, and expects work to continue.

“We could start some underground work and laying of conduit [for the lighting] in the coming weeks,” Maurer said.

Jim Kohlhorst, superintendent of Rockford Blacktop Construction Company, does expect to continue with other parts of the project soon.

“We expect to start laying down some concrete next week,” Kohlhorst said.

The gazebo is going to be put in between 10th and 11th streets, Kohlhorst said. He expects the landscaping for the gazebo to start on Monday.

The Streetscape project is expected to be completed in June 2009, Maurer said.
