Before football, men's soccer to take on Hartwick

As a fellow college student, I urge you to vote for Phil Young, candidate for DeKalb County Board – District 5, who represents the change we sorely need on the County Board.
Phil Young is a man with deep roots in the community, dating back 16 years. He is a middle-class family man with three children and understands the sacrifices families in this county have to make.
He is a fiscal conservative who promises to be a good steward of your tax dollars. He will cut wasteful spending, invest only in those programs that significantly benefit all residents, and will not raise taxes.
As an NIU faculty member and NIU alum, he will stick up for the students of this district. He has already been an innovator in delivering GIS technology to students and will deliver the technology upgrades that are sorely needed at the county level, that will ultimately lead to better efficiency.
With a background in geography, he understands the land use issues facing our county and will work to ensure that the area is properly grown and developed and that farmland is preserved for the benefit of the critical agricultural sector of our county’s economy.
He also understands the importance of the emerging energy economy and will work to ensure that those that invest in clean technologies are rewarded and not hindered by the county.
Please elect Phil Young to County Board, District 5 on Nov. 4!
Ryan Smith
Sophomore, Business Administration
