Name: John McCain
Party: Republican
Education: Graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy
Political experience: U.S. Representative for Arizona (1982-1984); U.S. Senator for Arizona (1986–present).

Stances:

  • Health care: Comprehensive reform that responds to families’ needs and at lower cost and reform health care by making it more affordable, access to quality coverage, portability and security to keep insurance as jobs change (more choices than employer-based insurance).

  • War in Iraq: Supports current counterinsurgency strategy, helping to establish stable and democratic state in Iraq, defeat al-Qaida before leaving Iraq and pressure Iran and Syria to change behavior from aiding violence in Iraq.
