University Police Blotter: Oct. 30

Oct. 27
At 8:15 a.m., University Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft at the northwest section of the Northern View parking lot. Neither the owner nor his wife loaned the car out, and they still had the keys. After checking with the local towing companies, neither had possession of the missing vehicle. The car is a 1986 Chevrolet Caprice. Case is pending.

Oct. 28
At 12:03 a.m., University Police responded to a report of people throwing eggs at passersby and the building at Grant North. A witness identified the offender. Officers arrested Nicholas K. Curry, 19, of Chicago, for battery. Officers booked Curry at the NIU Police Department, who posted bond and was released.

At 11:47 a.m., University Police reported graffiti on the west side of the Holmes Student Center. Case is closed.

At 1:43 p.m., a theft was reported at the NIU Rice Hotel. A black bag containing assorted articles and left on the main reception desk was missing upon the owner’s return from lunch. Case is closed.

At 6:44 p.m., University Police responded to a report of a theft of a Nintendo Wii along with two controllers and connection wires from the Douglas Hall’s Honors Lounge. It is unknown how many people had access to the cabinet that contained the console. Case is pending.

At 11:38 p.m., a vehicle parked in Lot J sustained deliberate damage to the license plate and the gas door. Case is pending.
