Geneva mayor vying to succeed Rep. Hastert

Senior quarterback injured, will miss final two...

While I was thrilled to see the Northern Star finally covering a couple of stories on the NIU Equestrian Team, I was disappointed when I saw Thursday’s [Oct. 22] article for a number of reasons.
First, why state that “in a sport where fashion is a low priority” but then spend an entire article (trying) to discuss it? I think Star readers will appreciate stories that have importance, such as what is one of the “priorities” in the sport of riding. Maybe you might explore such topics as what the team does to prepare for an upcoming show or what obstacles the team might have faced in becoming one of the top 31 teams in the nation in the past two years. In addition, as a former team member, I believe that there are both new and past members that deserve some credit for their hard work both inside and outside of the show ring (more than just a mere mention of his or her name).
Second, where did you find that equestrian attire is “far from fashionable?” Actually, equestrian attire is so fashionable that designers such as Miu Miu, Chloé, Gucci and more are inspired enough to use pieces of this look for their handbags, shoes and collections on the runway. This should be obvious to anyone who follows fashion trends!
Next time, how about doing the necessary research for a story and sticking to a relevant and fresh topic.
