White Castle builds newest castle in DeKalb
By EMILY GOINS

America’s oldest hamburger fast food restaurant chain is sliding its way into DeKalb.

Located at the intersection of Sycamore and Dresser roads, a new White Castle is expected to open sometime in November.

PanGere Corp. has been contracted to construct the new restaurant.

“Construction on the site began at about the first of August and is expected to be completed within the next couple months,” said Pete Odinsoff, project manager for PanGere Corp.

Marty Coleman, White Castle construction representative, said finer details such as menu items and the hiring process is thus far undecided on.

“We plan to have a more definite hiring date in about four to six weeks,” said Coleman.

The closest White Castle in the DeKalb area is located in Aurora, about 30 miles away.

Many students are excited for the new opening in the area.

Ben Schulz, sophomore business major, is looking forward to experiencing the new restaurant.

“I’m in high spirits to receive news that a White Castle is being built on Sycamore Road,” said Schulz.

“White Castle is not just about food,” said Chris Richards, sophomore business administration major . “It’s about bringing people together to enjoy late-night service and free refills.”
