Just before 9 p.m., MSNBC stated that no Republican has ever won the election without having Ohio by their side.

For Sen. John McCain, seeing Sen. Barack Obama win the electoral votes for Ohio must have been a little upsetting. Can we really pretend it was no surprise McCain had no chance?

The choices McCain decided to follow were not what America was interested in, and this is what led him to his fall.

“Obama’s presidency represents a new direction the U.S. is taking,” said Lauren Mock, Student Association vice president.

America is ready for change, and McCain was stuck on tradition with political views too close to President George Bush.

McCain attempted to stitch the wounds left open from Bush’s previous mistakes, but it was really just too late. Americans are not happy with the decisions of our last president and don’t want a replay.

McCain repeats this tactic of “everything can be fixed” when America wants to hear “let’s have change.”

Sarah Palin, who served as the Alaskan Governor for less than two years, pulled the McCain campaign down.

Her little experience and tendency to be outspoken simply made America laugh.

“Electing Obama shows a change of thinking in America,” Mock said. “It shows where we have come from and where we are going as a country.”

America has just entered a huge and historic moment in time.

Obama offered change while McCain wanted to fix what was already broken.

Sorry to say, people just don’t like Bush, Palin became a joke and Obama said what everyone wanted to hear.
