Beer of the Week: Wild Blue

Wild Blue is a blueberry flavored lager from Anheuser-Busch. Wild Blue tastes a lot more like a blueberry-flavored soft drink than a beer.

It tastes like a really good soft drink, but if people wanted a soft drink, they probably wouldn’t be buying beer.

The brew is very carbonated, possesses a thick mouth-feel and has a light, sweet, blueberry aftertaste.

The Good: Eight percent alcohol by volume never tasted this sweet! As far as malt-beverages go, Wild Blue has a very easy-to-drink flavor to it.

The Bad: Because the brew tastes more like a soft drink or malt-beverage, the majority—if not all—of the beer aficionados will abhor Wild Blue.

The bottle doesn’t make any mention that it’s distributed by Anheuser-Busch on the packaging.

This will likely upset people who purchased the beer under the impression it’s produced by a micro-brewery.

The Cost: $7.99 a six-pack

The Recommendation: If you like malt-beverages and can’t seem to find a beer you enjoy, Wild Blue could be your grand debut.

Only beer drinkers who actively seek out different types of fruit-flavored brews will actually enjoy Wild Blue.

Drinkers who love a dark, strong-tasting brew will loathe the stuff and shouldn’t go within 25 feet of it.

Additionally, you might actually be able to pass Wild Blue off as a “new malt liquor” to your non-beer drinking friends. They’ll never know what hit them.
