DeKalb Police arrested a Chicago man after a “huge brawl” during an after party at Otto’s Niteclub and Underground early Sunday morning, police said.

Police entered the club, 118 E. Lincoln Highway, after seeing several fights break-out inside, and arrested Donte F. Moore, 21.

About 1:32 a.m., officers outside the club saw a large amount of people leaving in a hurry and saw a fight inside after entering, said DeKalb Police Sgt. Bob Redel. Officers responding said it looked like everyone inside was fighting.

Redel said he was unsure how many people were inside during the brawl.

In one of the fights, Moore smashed a bottle over the head of a bouncer, requiring the bouncer to be taken to the hospital to get staples in his head. Moore started fighting the bouncer when he was trying to break up a fight involving his cousin and the bouncer intervened, Redel said.

Moore was later arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

Redel did not know what started the fights at the club.

The club was rented out for an after party for the Young Jeezy concert Saturday night at the Convocation Center, Redel said.

Otto’s could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.

INCREDIBLY stupid of Otto's to allow an after-party to be held there. Those are best reserved on-campus in the ballroom amid tight security and no alcohol. Tsk. We learned this lesson when I attended NIU back in the 80's fer crissakes.
