The cause of death is unknown for an individual found Monday afternoon in a Suburban Estates apartment complex, 1400 Twombly Road, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff's Office report.

Police found the body of NIU student Adam Richardson, 23, of DeKalb, at 5:05 p.m. Monday in apartment number 2166, the report said.

Police were called by building management after being contacted by Richardson’s family, who had not heard from him for a few days and had asked them to check up on him, said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.

The exact cause of death could not be determined until toxicology and autopsy reports come back, which will not be back for several weeks, said Dave Jacobson, DeKalb County chief deputy coroner.

“We would like to stress there is no foul play suspected here,” Jacobson said.

Jacobson said it is believed the body was there for several days, but the reports would say for sure.
