Leapfrog should be left to little school kids, not the BCS.

With a three-way tie in the Big 12 South Division between Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech, the BCS standings were the tiebreaker to decide who moved on to the Big 12 Championship game.

The Red Raiders were not a factor as the Sooners managed to cut in line past the Longhorns after losing to them on a neutral field by 10 points earlier in the season.

The reason for this game not mattering anymore is it’s timeliness.

The game happened in early October and, since then, Texas has lost and Oklahoma has won every game by more than 14 points.

The lesson to be learned is that you must get hot at the right time, and now has been a good time for the Sooners.

Huskie fans should be rallying behind Texas right now. This definitely cannot compare in size, but Texas could be knocked out of the national championship just as NIU was snubbed of a bowl game in 2003.

The better team should always be more deserving. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way.

But you can’t only blame the BCS because the Big 12 is at fault as well.

In any circumstance, why would you leave it up to the BCS?

As an alternative way to find a winner, the Big 12 could use point differentials within the division to determine the two better teams.

Then, they can use that match-up’s result from earlier in the season to provide the winner.

All hope for Texas now relies on the back of Chase Daniel and the Missouri Tigers.

If Missouri can find a way to pull out the upset, there won’t be a mess come selection day.

Another scenario that could favor the Longhorns: No. 4 Florida narrowly defeats No. 1 Alabama in the SEC Championship.

A win is a win and no matter how the Big 12 Championship game ends, Texas deserves to go to the national championship game.

Karma could roll around to the Sooners as they could possibly be getting the Longhorns in the title game come Jan. 8.
