Tickets are now available through the Northern Illinois athletic department for the 33rd Independence Bowl, featuring the Huskies taking on Louisiana Tech, Sunday, Dec. 28 in Shreveport, La.

Fans are STRONGLY encouraged to take advantage of the many benefits offered by purchasing tickets directly through the NIU athletic department. In addition to the $5 discount for Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund members and season ticket holders, all fans ordering from NIU will help the Huskies' fulfill their required bowl allotment. By purchasing through the athletic department, Huskie fans are guaranteed a place in the NIU fan section and a large support base will enhance the program's attractiveness to future bowls.

Tickets are available at three price levels: $40, $35, and $30 dollars, and fans that are unable to attend can purchase tickets and donate them, significantly impacting NIU's Independence Bowl efforts. Fans should order their tickets by Monday, Dec. 15 for priority seating.

NIU will offer one FREE ticket to the first 500 Northern Illinois students who will attend the game. To obtain their free ticket, students should come to the Convocation Center Ticket Office or call the office at 815-752-6800. Proper identification will be required before FREE student tickets are distributed.

In addition, a limited number of student travel packages are available. The package includes a free ticket to the game, travel to Shreveport, and two nights stay at a hotel just minutes from Independence Stadium for just $125. Fans will leave the NIU campus Dec. 26 at 6 p.m. and arrive in Shreveport in time to enjoy all the city has to offer. Students interested in taking advantage of this tremendous opportunity should contact Cindy Green at (815) 753-0639 to reserve a spot.

All tickets will be available exclusively through will call. Tickets can be picked up at the Convocation Center Ticket Office (open Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) starting Dec. 17 and ending on Dec. 23 at 5 p.m. Tickets can also be picked up in Shreveport, Dec. 27-28.
