Fire department asks residents to keep hydrants clear

The DeKalb Fire Department is asking for resident help after recent snowfall in making fire hydrants accessible. Residents can perform a valuable public service by shoveling out any fire hydrants near them.

Critical time is lost during an emergency when fire crews must locate and make a fire hydrant buried in snow usable. Life and property could be saved if the fire hydrant near you is visible and accessible.

Please contact the DeKalb Fire Department at (815) 748-8460 for assistance.
