NIU student dies in Wisconsin crash
Huskies split weekend against CMU, EMU
Spring Break ideas for NIU students

Dear Editor,
This letter is meant to inform the public that the Huskie Bus Line, aka Veolia Transportation, discriminates against the disabled, poor and elderly by not allowing them to bring pets in carriers on their buses.
Many disabled, poor and elderly are unable to own or operate a vehicle and must rely on public transportation. The health benefits of having a pet are so well proven that some hospitals and hospice programs have pet-assisted therapy.
Anti-animal policies such as those of the Huskie Bus Line hamper not just these services but pet ownership itself. Those who have difficulty taking their pet to a vet may choose not to have one.
The Huskie Bus Line finds their policy of discrimination so indefensible that they refused to send me a copy of their pet policy and information about their compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Yet they say they will not change their policy. The Chicago Transportation Authority allows people to bring pets in carriers on their buses.
What is wrong with the Huskie Bus Line?
Thank you.
