BYE, BYE BLAGO WEEK
Avril Lavigne - “Unwanted”

After Rod Blagojevich’s recent removal, he should be listening to Avril Lavigne’s 2002 album “Let Go” and sulk over his troubles.

“All that I did was walk over / started off by shaking your hands / that’s how it went,” are the opening lyrics from Lavigne’s track “Unwanted.” Blagojevich complains he did nothing wrong. He was so sure the public would back him up, but instead he was hauled off by the FBI and impeached for trying to sell a U.S. Senate seat.

“No, I just don’t understand why you won’t talk to me / it hurts that I’m so unwanted for nothing / don’t talk words against me.” Lavigne’s lyrics sum up Blagojevich’s pitiful attempt to defend himself to the public. These words must be going through rowdy Roddy’s head as he reflects on his involvement in such a dreadful scandal.

“I tried to belong / it didn’t seem wrong” is all Blago can hum now as reality sets in that a hands-down vote sent him out the door of governmental office and no one told him he was right.

He embarrassed the people of Illinois and the public was more than ready to say goodbye to him.

“Make me go away / make me go away” is what the public did, and now Blagojevich is never coming back.

Bye, bye Blago.
