The NIU political science department is offering three Congressional internships on Capitol Hill this summer.

The internship spots are open to any NIU student. Each student will receive $5,000 to pay for transportation to and housing in Washington, D.C. with money left for food and mass transit. The interns will stay in George Washington University’s apartment housing.

Each intern will be paired with three members of the Illinois Congressional delegation. The experience provides a tuition waiver for six total credit hours to each intern: three internship hours in political science and three independent study hours in political science.

Interested students can get an application from Matthew Streb, assistant political science professor, or the political science department’s Web site. Students must apply and will then be interviewed.

The deadline to apply is March 2.
