The Rant: National Signing Day

National Signing Day has come and gone. All the hype, the preparation, the televised announcements of high school players that could completely flop in college; all of it, gone, just like Christmas morning.

The day, to me at least, has always been a little over-hyped by ESPN, but thankfully, the farce from last year didn’t happen. Last year, a senior offensive lineman from Nevada faked his own signing to Cal, “choosing” between them and Oregon.

Here’s the thing, Cal never even talked to him.

Just for fun, I looked for what happened to the infamous Kevin Hart — he’s playing at some no-name school now.

Just goes to show, when you over-hype an event like National Signing Day, people will do anything to fit in and get the attention.
