A Leland woman was found guilty on four charges for her involvement in a multi-state theft case
where hundreds of thousands of dollars in property was stolen.

Sandra L. Seabright, 66, was found guilty Friday morning at the DeKalb County Courthouse, 110 E. Sycamore St., on two counts of vehicle theft conspiracy, one count of aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle and one count of theft. Her sentencing date is set for April 8.

Charges come from her arrest in February 2008 after a search of her home and three storage units resulted in the arrest of herself and her son, Mark A. Wright, 48, also of Leland. During the search, stolen property, including two 2008 Dodge pickup trucks, two ATV four-wheelers and four large boats, was recovered.

It is alleged Seabright aided Wright in the possession and disposition of the stolen vehicles by allowing him to use her bank account, said Bill Engerman, DeKalb County first assistant state’s attorney, in a phone interview Monday afternoon. She also allegedly cashed a check for a vehicle that had been reported stolen, Engerman said.

The stolen property was being sold through eBay and other venues in the conspiracy case with the checks being made out and turned over to Seabright, said DeKalb County Sheriff’s Detective Brad Carls.

Wright will appear in court Feb. 18 for a status hearing.
