Clarkson's new album fails to grab fans' attention

Kelly Clarkson, original winner of “American Idol,” is bracing for the release of her fourth album, “All I Ever Wanted,” set to hit stores March 10.

The first single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” has been streaming the airwaves even breaking a record set by Britney Spears when it jumped from no. 97 to no. 1 in a week on the Billboard Hot 100 list.

However, after the arguable flop of her last album, will listeners embrace the song like they did with the release of Clarkson’s earlier work?

After the success of “American Idol,” Clarkson was selling out venues and had chart-topping record sales.

However, it seems as though we haven’t heard much from the pop star since “Breakaway” in 2004.

Since that time, she released another disc, the darker “My December,” which didn’t get as much attention as her first two releases and did not go platinum. It’s still difficult to determine if Clarkson will be able to reclaim her fame with “All I Ever Wanted.”

“My Life Would Suck Without You” is catchy, but there’s nothing about it that distinguishes it from previous Clarkson hits. It has the same, poppy sound and is reminiscent of the first single off “Breakaway,” “Since U Been Gone.”

The chorus of the song is the only part that stands out and really shows Clarkson’s vocal range. The verses seem to be tucked into the song without any build up to the chorus.

It’s not a bad song, but it’s not good either. Being a fan of Clarkson since her “Idol” days and hearing this new project is disappointing. One could expect much more from her as she is not putting herself out there like she should be.

Clarkson is by no means a bad performer or songwriter, but she’s going to have to do something a little different next time or really do a lot in support of the new album to keep her fame alive.

Um, My December did go platinum as the industry recognizes it. It is true that it hasn't yet reached 1 mill in actual US sales, but it still has been certified platinum. Some failure.

Hey, I see where you are coming from, but if you are a kelly fan, creating bad publicity like this isnt helping anyone.
