Men's tennis:

The NIU men’s tennis team won its first match of the season, defeating Western Illinois 4-3 in Macomb Saturday.

The Huskies (1-3) went into singles play trailing by a point after their freshmen duo of Jurica Grubisic and Pawel Poziomski were the only pair to win in doubles but singles play was all Huskies.

Grubisic and Poziomski chipped in again, giving the Huskies two wins to start. Matt Hansen would follow suit at No. 3 singles with Javier Bernabe wrapping up the victory at No. 5 singles.
The Huskies will host Bradley this Sunday.

Women's track:

NIU women’s track and field tallied 109.5 points to defeat Bowling Green at the Central Michigan Quadrangular on Feb. 6.

The Huskies picked up wins in the long jump, the triple jump, the 3,000-meter run and the 4x400 relay.

The relay team, consisting of Kaylee Walters, Rasheta Butler, Rochelle Muskeyvalley and Brittany Houghton, distanced itself from the competition by more than 10 seconds with a 4:01.12 posting.
