An NIU student was attacked after an argument early Sunday morning in the 1000 block of West Hillcrest Drive.

About 2:21 a.m. in front of Burritoville, 1026 W. Hillcrest Drive, a male student was walking with his girlfriend when they passed another group of people.

A member of the passing group made a gesture at the student’s girlfriend, which led to an argument. The suspect, a member of the group, then struck the victim on the side of the head and walked away toward Hillcrest Drive.

The victim was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital to be treated for injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a brown-and-blue shirt.
