On a quest for redemption, Chicago rapper Chibbz Ceasar will showcase his rap skills when he plays at Krystal’s Ultra Lounge, 122 S. First St., tonight at 8:30 p.m.

Ceasar, born in Nigeria, admired the music, dancing and persona of Michael Jackson.
Although he loved music throughout his entire childhood, Ceasar did not start rapping until he was a teenager.

Back then, his music was a way to vent and make use of his poetic talent. Ceasar’s musical career began at the age of 13 when he formed a group called GDC with two friends. The group would practice at Caesar’s apartment constantly until the day it broke up.

To this day, Ceasar still loves writing. Instead of staying up late to write something that would impress friends and teachers, his strong writing abilities are channeled through his music.

Chibbz attributes his musical talent to God. Because of this, Ceasar is currently recording an album titled “Redemption,” and is near completion.

The musician plans to go to New York City this summer to further promote his music. Ceasar has already played numerous shows, and he seeks to play more.

“[My music] is clever, it is poetry mixed with the best instrumentation,” said the rapper. “[The music is] the soundtrack to my 19-year-old life.”

The admittedly competitive and driven rapper already has over a hundred recordings to his name.

Although he knows his future is bright, Ceasar remains grateful for the people he has met and the experiences he has had on his musical journey.

To anyone looking for a break from the sometimes overdone rappers of today’s age, give Chibbz Ceasar a listen. His music is sure to strike a chord with any other musician who has worked hard to achieve a dream.
